Visita a Christiania, la ciudad libre dentro de Copenhague

Tras visitar Vor Frelsers Kirke y divisar Christiania, la ciudad libre que hay dentro de Copenhague desde las alturas nos adentramos en este peculiar lugar a realizar una visita, he de reconocer que iba con una idea preconcebida de lo que me iba a encontrar allí, había, escuchado, había leído y me habían contado que era una comunidad hippie donde se regian con sus propias leyes y por supuesto consumir y vender droga era legal dentro de aquel recinto.
En la puerta principal de Christiania que da a la calle Prinsessegade nos estaba esperando Hanzs, uno de los primeros Christianitas fundadores de esta ciudad libre, nos invitó a pasar al edificio principal donde hay una pequeña tienda de suvenires, un bar y una sala de exposiciones y proyecciones, allí delante de un mapa de lo que es la ciudad de Christiania nos dio una charla contándonos los comienzos, la historia y el funcionamiento de la ciudad libre.

Una de las máximas de Christiania es el reciclaje, casi todo allí se recicla, así que en los alrededores del edificio principal podíamos ver bancos y sillas elaborados con piezas de hierro de máquinas que alguna vez fueron usadas en aquellos antiguos barracones, el lugar donde se encuentra la ciudad libre de Christiania era un antiguo acuartelamiento del ejército danés, fue abandonado en los años 70 y los primeros christianitas ocuparon los antiguos barracones para fundar lo que es la ciudad de hoy en día.
Actualmente viven cerca de 1000 personas en Christiania, familias enteras conviven bajo unas normas de libre convivencia, todo el lugar estaba asfaltado pero la ausencia de vehículos a motor ha hecho que no sea necesario mantener el pavimento y por ellos algunas calles son meros caminos de tierra y gravilla, los antiguos barracones del ejercito son usados para albergar restaurantes, tiendas y almacenes, mientras que muchos christianitas viven en casitas de madera e incluso antiguos contenedores de barcos adaptados como viviendas o tiendas.
Están tan organizados que tienen hasta correo postal interno, así las familias que viven en los bastiones del canal pueden enviarse cartas como si de una ciudad normal se tratase, otra de las cosas interesantes de la ciudad son las bicicletas, veréis que las hay de todo tipo, pero sin duda, Christiania es famosa por las bicicletas con el cubo para llevar a los niños, de hecho fabrican y exportan a la ciudad de Copenhague su famosas bicicletas bajo la marca Cristianiabikes.
Trueque de ropa usada en Christiania, lo que no te valga lo dejas y coges lo que necesitas
Iba algo preocupado por hacer fotos, por lo que había leído y me habían contado, al parecer allí eran un poco quisquillosos con las fotos por el tema de sacar a alguien vendiendo droga o cometiendo alguna ilegalidad, pero he de reconocer que al llegar allí ese miedo se te va, la gente va a su bola y hace vida normal, como si los turistas no estuviésemos a excepción de una calle, la calle Gaden Uden Navn, allí es donde está todo el cotarro de la droga, antiguamente estaba permitido el consumo y venta de todo tipo de drogas, pero debido a los problemas de control y salud que esto acarreó ahora solo se permite la venta y consumo de drogas blandas, marihuana y hachís sobre todo, en aquella calle había carteles de NO FOTOS por todas partes, allí se olía en el ambiente la maría, plantas de marihuana crecían por las lindes de la calle, en macetas y en puestos como si de golosinas se tratase se vendía toda la droga, la gente fumaba porros de unas proporciones que jamás había visto, un lugar que me resultaba curioso pero no me sentía nada cómodo, ese rollo no iba conmigo y menos la gente que vendía, no tenían nada que ver a los christianitas que habíamos visto hasta ahora, estos parecían de una mafia organizada que solo se dedicaba a la venta y trapicheo de las drogas, gente que no iba con la filosofía de lo que es la ciudad libre de Christiania.

Dejamos atrás aquella calle y volví a sacar mi cámara, pues llegamos a los bastiones, porciones de tierra que se adentran en el canal de forma triangular, una excelente disposición defensiva que ahora habían sido tomados por familias de christianitas donde hacían vida con sus hijos, trabajando en el reciclaje y en los huertos que allí tenían, además, aún con la de turistas que por allí danzábamos, estos tenian las puertas de sus casas abiertas de par en par, multitud de recuerdos adornaban las entradas de las calles y la tranquilidad se sentía por si sola en aquel lugar.
Una de las zonas más bonitas de Christiania es el lago, pertenece en su totalidad a la ciudad libre, incluso una pequeña isla llamada Kanin, en ambas orillas se encuentran los bastiones con las familias más antiguas de Christiania y un pequeño puente para cruzarlo, además es un excelente lugar de recreo para los niños donde pudimos ver restos de un antiguo barco de juguete elaborado con piezas recicladas.
En Christiania se autogestionan, aunque aún dependen del ayuntamiento de Copenhague pues la luz que recibe la ciudad libre viene del consistorio y los christianios no pagan ningún tipo de impuesto, los niños van a las escuelas públicas de Copenhague y hay gente que trabaja fuera de la ciudad libre pero luego viven allí, la limpieza corre a cargo de los christianios y la verdad que el lugar está más que decente.
Hanzs nos contó que las nuevas generaciones ya no quieren seguir con la vida que han llevado sus padres, los primeros christianios, y cada vez va habiendo menos gente censada en el lugar.
Y con el cartel que nos indica al salir de Christiania que estamos volviendo a la Unión Europea termina nuestra visita virtual, espero que las fotos hayan sido suficientemente descriptivas de aquel sitio tan interesante, realmente, iba con una idea preconcebida de la ciudad libre de Christiania, me esperaba la gente más perdida, todos tirados drogándose y viendo la vida pasar, he de decir que algunos andan así, pero el resto de las personas está muy organizada y la sensación de tranquilidad y libertad que se vive allí es indescriptible, por ello, os invito a realizar una visita, no os defraudará.

Muy bien captado el sitio! Fuí hace 5 años, cuando estaba de erasmus en Groningen y lo visité primero de noche y al día siguiente por la mañana. La verdad es que no tiene nada que ver. La primera vez me encontré a disgusto porque en el bar al que nos acercamos la gente estaba hasta arriba de todo. El ambiente cambia por completo durante el día cuando Christiania es el reducto liberal del que hablas. A la salida unos polis nos registraron (el coche aparcado incluido) ya que debe ser bastante típico que los «guiris» vayan a hacer sus «compras» allí.

Hola a todos! Yo estuve hace una semana con unos amigos y fuimos a Christiania y os aseguro que es un sitio muy especial (No he visto nada parecido en Europa, ni siquiea Berlin). Nos hicimos un tour contratado en español con la gente de Biking y nos enseñaron todos los recovecos y lugares a los que nunca hubieramos pensado entrar por nuestra cuenta. Además nos comentarón que a finales de Septimebre celebran el 40 cumpleaños con una fería dentro de Christiania que dura todo el fin de semana.
Muy recomendable y para nada peligroso(Nosotros fuimos con nuestos hijos).
